Sitting Too Long in the Restroom! Hemorrhoids Warning
One of the key factors for good health is regular bowel movements to eliminate waste from the body. The ideal time for this is between 05:00-07:00 AM, when the large intestine is most active in expelling waste. However, some people experience irregular bowel movements, alternating between constipation and diarrhea, or frequently straining during defecation. Many overlook the fact that these small issues can gradually lead to hemorrhoids. Today, we are sharing the common causes of hemorrhoids so you can be more aware and prevent them!

  • Frequent heavy lifting
  • Sitting on the toilet for too long, straining, chronic constipation, and frequent diarrhea
  • Engaging in anal intercourse
  • Family history of hemorrhoids
  • Aging, leading to weakened connective tissues in the anal region
  • Low-fiber diet
  • Underlying conditions that increase abdominal pressure, such as liver cirrhosis, pregnancy, or obesity
  • Alcohol consumption

Sitting too long in the restroom increases prolonged pressure on the rectal veins, even if you're just using your phone or reading. Unlike sitting on a regular chair, your anal region relaxes when seated on a toilet, and your body automatically directs pressure downward to aid defecation. This increased pressure in the anal area causes the veins to swell, leading to hemorrhoids.

Hemorrhoids are a common condition because everyone has to use the restroom. Although it is a condition that can resolve on its own, it can also recur if risk factors are not managed. If you experience unusual symptoms or suspect that you have hemorrhoids, you should consult a doctor immediately and avoid delaying treatment.
