What to do when a firecracker or firework explodes in your eyes?

      During the Loy Krathong festival, fireworks and sky lanterns are commonly used. These items often contain hazardous explosive materials, and there have been advancements in creating more powerful fireworks. If you happen to have an accident with fireworks or sky lanterns injuring your eyes, here's what you should do:

• Seek immediate medical attention from an ophthalmologist or an eye specialist.
• Do not rub your eyes.
• Do not wash your eyes, as it may introduce infection into the injured eye.
• Do not press or touch your eyes.
• Do not attempt to remove any foreign object from the eye (sometimes, the foreign body may plug a leak in the eye and should only be removed in a controlled surgical environment).
• Do not use  eye ointment in the eye, and do not take aspirin or NSAIDs (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) as they can increase bleeding.

       In case of eye injuries or accidents, it's important to perform basic first aid and promptly call for  emergency medical team. Dial 1669 for emergency medical help. Additionally, it's worth noting that playing with fireworks or sky lanterns that result in harm to others or cause fires can lead to legal consequences.
